View more View less

At DNAQ, we are following all current advice provided by the Australian Government, local health authorities and the World Health Organization (WHO), and taking extra precautionary steps to ensure the health and safety of our laboratory staff and customer service team to minimise any disruption to testing

Please be advised our laboratory is still operational, and we are currently not experiencing any delays with processing of samples.

For all non-legal testing, a testing kit can be sent directly to your home address. You can simply collect the sample yourself at home, and post it back to DNAQ in the supplied prepaid return envelope. Legal Collection appointments are also still available at our laboratory in Brisbane upon request. However, if you are experiencing any virus-like symptoms or have travelled overseas in the past 14 days, we recommend delaying your collection or rescheduling your appointment to a later date.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact our friendly staff on 1300 172 837.

Prenatal Baby Bundle

Our Prenatal Baby Bundle includes our Non-Invasive Prenatal Paternity and Prenatal Genetic Screening (NIFTYTM) Tests at a discounted price. Our tests are the most accurate and safest way to determine paternity, gender and potential risk for a range of health conditions before your child is born.

What is included in the Prenatal Baby Bundle?

1. Non-Invasive Prenatal Paternity Test (NIPPT)

A Non-Invasive Prenatal Paternity Test can determine paternity with 99.9% accuracy, using a blood sample from the mother and a mouth swab from the alleged father. Our test is highly advanced, and the most accurate on the market. It analyses over 5,000 genetic markers, known as Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs), to determine paternity with 99.9% accuracy.

2. Non-Invasive Prenatal Genetic Screening – NIFTYTM

NIFTYTM is a highly accurate and risk free, non-invasive prenatal screening test for chromosomal abnormalities, available from as early as the 10th week of pregnancy. All that is required is a blood sample from the mother to screen for chromosomal abnormalities including trisomies, such as Down Syndrome and Edwards Syndrome, Sex Chromosomal Aneuploidies and Deletion/Duplication Syndromes in the unborn baby.

Please note, due to the nature of this test, a doctor’s referral is required.

3. Gender Determination

Gender determination is also available as part of the Non-Invasive Prenatal Genetic Screening (NIFTYTM), which allows you to find out the gender of your child from as early as 10 weeks.

How many weeks pregnant do I need to be?

Our Non-Invasive Prenatal Paternity Test is available from 7 Weeks Gestational Age. However, optimal testing is from 10 Weeks Gestational Age (this means you will be in your 10th week of pregnancy, starting from the first day of your last menstrual period).

For the Non-Invasive Prenatal Genetic Screening Screening (NIFTYTM) you must be at least 10 weeks pregnant. Therefore, we recommend you wait until you are at least 10 weeks pregnant before having both blood samples collected.

If you provide a sample too early, or you have incorrectly calculated your gestational age, there will not be enough fetal DNA for us to perform testing. This is why optimal testing is from 10 weeks gestational age. In these cases, we will request a recollection at a later gestational age, to ensure there is more fetal DNA in the mother’s blood. To determine your gestational age, please contact us or your doctor.

What sample do you need for the Prenatal Bundle?

Our prenatal tests are non-invasive, and all we require from the mother is 2 x blood samples, taken via a standard blood draw. This method of testing is much safer for both the mother and the unborn child. Other prenatal testing methods can be invasive and can come with risks such as miscarriage and leakage of amniotic fluid.

For our non-invasive prenatal paternity test, we also require 2 x mouth swabs taken from the alleged father. We will send you out a testing kit that contains everything you need for sample collection, along with clear instructions.

Please note that a medical professional, such as a doctor or nurse, will need to collect the blood sample. If you are having trouble arranging collection, please contact us and we can help you to find a phlebotomist in your area. Please note that an additional fee may be charged by your sample collector. This fee is not included in the cost of testing and must be paid directly to the sample collector.

Turnaround Time & Receiving Your Results

Upon receiving your samples at our laboratory, we will promptly begin processing. We endeavour to have your results to you within 10 – 15 working days from receipt of your samples at our laboratory. Please note that results may not necessarily be available at the same time.

  • Non-Invasive Prenatal Paternity Test – results from these tests will be emailed to the parties involved in tested (i.e. the mother and the alleged father), to the email address provided at the time of collection.
  • Non-Invasive Prenatal Genetic Screening Screening (NIFTYTM) – Please note that due to the nature of this test, results will only be sent to your referring doctor. No results will be sent directly to the patient or given out over the phone – including gender results.
