At DNAQ, we are following all current advice provided by the Australian Government, local health authorities and the World Health Organization (WHO), and taking extra precautionary steps to ensure the health and safety of our laboratory staff and customer service team to minimise any disruption to testing
Please be advised our laboratory is still operational, and we are currently not experiencing any delays with processing of samples.
For all non-legal testing, a testing kit can be sent directly to your home address. You can simply collect the sample yourself at home, and post it back to DNAQ in the supplied prepaid return envelope. Legal Collection appointments are also still available at our laboratory in Brisbane upon request. However, if you are experiencing any virus-like symptoms or have travelled overseas in the past 14 days, we recommend delaying your collection or rescheduling your appointment to a later date.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact our friendly staff on 1300 172 837.

A Non-Legal (Peace of Mind) Paternity Test is the quickest and simplest way to determine whether an alleged father is the biological father of a child. Our Non-Legal Paternity DNA test is highly accurate. Where a man is found to be the biological father, the probability of paternity will be upwards of 99.9999%, and 0% probability of paternity in the case where he is found not to be the father.
You can rest assured knowing that your DNA test is performed in our laboratory that is accredited to the highest International standard, ISO 17025, and with the National Association of Australian Testing Authorities (NATA).
Non-legal Paternity DNA tests are for peace of mind or reassurance purposes only. If you need testing for legal purposes, such as changing a birth certificate, for Immigration or Family Court matters, such as those involving child support or child custody, you will require a Legal DNA Test. If you are unsure of which DNA test you need, please contact us on 1300 172 837 to discuss the particular needs of your case.
Once we receive your application and payment, DNAQ will mail a collection kit to your nominated address(es). The kit will contain everything you need to collect the samples, along with clear instructions on how to do so. For non-legal tests, samples can be collected by the tested individuals themselves, from at home. We use mouth swabs for an easy and painless collection process, by simply rubbing the swab on the inside of your cheek and pressing the swab onto the included Pink FTA DNA preservation card.
Once you have collected your samples and completed the included paperwork, please return them to the laboratory in the supplied return postage envelope. As soon as we have received all samples for the case, we promptly begin processing. We endeavour to have results available within 5 working days from receipt of sample at the laboratory. An Express Service (results within 2 working days) is also available at an additional cost.
You can read more about a Non-Legal DNA collection process here.
Each person tested is legally entitled to a copy of their results, and as such may receive a copy. Results will only be sent to the parties being tested (or their legal guardian), to the email addresses provided at time of sample collection. A hard copy of your results can also be arranged for an additional fee. Please note, results will not be given over the phone.
